iOS 18.2 beta unlocks new AI tools for the eligible iPhone models and ChatGPT makes its first big bow on the platform.
While iPhone users wait for the public iOS 18.1 update this week, Apple has quickly moved to the step of its Intelligence with the iOS 18.2 beta version. The AI features are going to be Apple’s big sell for the new iPhone 16 series and the older iPhone 15 Pro models, and it needs a quick roll out to keep people excited.
The new iOS 18 beta version shows the company is seriously working behind the scenes to expedite these features, and more people are getting a tease of what’s to come in the next few months. The iOS 18.2 beta version is our first look at ChatGPT integration on iPhones, and other advanced AI tools that will come very handy which probably explains why the new update is over 7GB in size.
iOS 18.2 Beta Update: These Features Coming To iPhones
Siri Talks To ChatGPT
Apple and OpenAI announced their deal to bring ChatGPT to iPhones at the WWDC 2024 keynote, and we are finally seeing its results with the iOS 18.2 beta version. Siri can now pass on requests to handle some AI tasks to ChatGPT which will then transmit data out of Apple’s server. That’s not all, Siri is now able to take queries regarding the image open on the screen and give you the details.
Make Genmojis
Apple will allow iPhone users the power to create Genmojis with iOS 18.2 which till now is limited to viewing and knowing more details about them. Genmoji isn’t different from the regular emojis, but you have the classic Apple touch with it.
More AI Writing Chops
Apple is giving AI more styles to help you write materials. They can select the tone and even change the type of content, for instance, convert an email into a poem.
AI Image Generate
Apple’s Image Playground is here to create images based on prompts, something that you can do with the Pixel Studio on the new Pixel 9 phones using Gemini AI. Apple’s AI integration is limited to its own apps for now.
More Work For The Camera
Apple’s big reason to have the camera control button on the iPhone 16 series is to help with the visual intelligence of its AI tools. Just by pointing the camera at a cafe, you can get the reviews, get more details for the places and even activate ChatGPT with some queries.
More Languages for AI
Apple’s AI is only available in US English with the public version but iOS 18.2 beta lets you try it in English for users in Australia, New Zealand, the UK and Canada among others. People in India will still need to use US English to use Apple AI but others now have more options.
